The Zuli Smartplug is being promoted as something more than just a connected outlet. According to the company, you will be able to connect lights and appliances with their smartplugs. Users will also be able to let the device adapt to their presence. This is what distinguishes this smartplug from the rest of the competition.
The Zuli Smartplug is Able to React to Your Presence
First of all, the Zuli Smartplug has a simple way of setting it up. There is no instruction manual included in the package, as you won’t need it in the first place. All you have to do is to download the dedicated app and it will walk you through the installation process. Each screen will give out a single instruction, which will let users follow along. Then, just swipe aside for the next screen and the next set of instructions.
The Zuli Smart Plug has a design that screams, “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it.” The body is compact while the glossy white face presents a modern yet fashionable touch. It has a small body that is very likeable. There is a button that is used for manually toggling the switch on and off. Still, even though it is very functional, this smartplug has a technology that you won’t exactly call “new.”
However, Zuli’s offering really shines through its app. You will be able to control all the usual stuff from the app such as turning electronic devices on and off with the use of your smartphone. You can also schedule commands so you can turn on lights when you wake up and automatically turn them off when it’s time for bed. But these still come off as basic as there are other smartplugs that can also do the same.
But you can use this smartplug to act as a dimmer to your lights. You can also use the app to monitor energy usage, and even use its Presence feature to integrate it with Nest. Therefore, the device relies heavily on Bluetooth connectivity.
Speaking of its Presence feature, this is calibrated with Bluetooth location tracking. This is used by the smart plug to track where you are inside your home. This feature will be integrated with a Nest Learning Thermostat, and this is only at the basic level. Therefore, your Nest device will act accordingly if it does or does not detect your phone.
The Zuli Smartplug can open up new possibilities when it comes to smart Bluetooth technology. However, there are still some shortcomings like the lack of remote access (since it does not offer Wi-Fi connectivity) which can be quite annoying at times.
