Toshiba Chromebook 2 Review – Better Than the First

The Toshiba Chromebook 2 is the second iteration to the original Toshiba Chromebook. While the previous model was already likeable, this newer model builds on its reputation and enhances its various elements and components further. This second generation model is available in two versions, one with a Full HD screen (1,920 x 1,080) and another with just an HD screen (1,366 x 768). The former is, of course, pricier than the latter, but both options are still found on the “generally cheap” category.

Toshiba Chromebook 2 Review - Better Than the First

The Toshiba Chromebook 2 is an Enhanced Version of the Original Model

While Chromebooks are known for their cheap prices and dull designs, the Toshiba Chromebook 2 is nothing of that sort (except for the cheap part). It is an attractive machine that boasts an excellent screen for its price.

This 13-inch laptop is a well-proportioned one, and it is one that can easily be placed in a backpack without much hassle. It also has a weight of 1.35-kilograms, which means that carrying it around will not promote too much of a hassle. It measures in at 320-millimeters in width and 214-millimeters in depth. This is just about the same size as what you can see on the 13-inch MacBook Air.

It boasts a similar shape to most modern-day laptops, and its design almost screams Apple’s 13-inch offering. The Chromebook 2 delivers a lot of curved corners and it also has a chunky base which tapers to a point located at the front side of the device. It is predominantly clad in silver plastic, which does promote simplicity and minimalism. It also has a dot pattern found on its lid which adds texture and lets it stand out from the competition in terms of design.

However, the device doesn’t feel particularly solid. Just by applying a bit of pressure on the screen and it can permanently be bent. Therefore, placing it inside a backpack or a rucksack with other items in it may pose an imminent threat in actually breaking the device.

At its core, it is powered by an Intel Celeron processor, which is far from the standard Intel chips from most laptops. However, this is not supposed to be used to play graphic intensive games or do other things that would otherwise burn its hardware from stress. What it brings you is an easier way to access the Internet. When using it for such a purpose, performance is good overall.

Hence, if you’re in the market for a Chromebook, then the Toshiba Chromebook 2 is the one that should be at the top of your list. It boasts a great screen, good looks, and even an excellent battery life. However, the flimsy build quality will make you take care of it like a little baby.
