There are times when a thing is too good then it must not be true, but then again, there’s the TiVo Roamio. The DVR maker focuses on the future as they recently unveiled their latest 4-ready DVR which is designed for the streaming era. Furthermore, the firm is continuing to improve on their products and services as their popular device is now updated with a new version that has more store. Now, users are able to store up to 1TB of recorded data into the unit.
TiVo Roamio OTA 1TB Has Now More Storage Data Than Its Predecessor
The TiVo Roamio now has a 1TB hard drive, and with it users are able to save videos of up to 150-hours of high-definition programming. Furthermore, it can be used to record up to four shows at once because of multiple tuners. It can also record programs over-the-air (hence the OTA in its name) with the use of an HD antenna. This means that you are able to record from networks such as CBS, FOX, PBS, Univision, NBC, and ABC among others.
Additionally, the TiVo Roamio OTA 1TB allows users to be able to watch across a number of major streaming services. These include Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and Amazon Prime. Furthermore, you are also able to “cast” YouTube and Netflix directly from your mobile device towards the streaming unit, if you so desire. This means that you no longer have to pay for a separate dongle to take advantage of this feature, as per what TiVo notes.
Aside from the new hardware functionalities, it also has more features up its sleeve. A couple of which are QuickMode and SkipMode. These are introduced with the TiVo Bolt, and it is able to let users play back at a 30-percent faster rate. As an added bonus, the faster speed also allows for pitch-corrected audio. This is very useful if you’re watching a video that dwells within the informational or educational aspect of things, such as news or sports. As for SkipMode, it lets users bypass commercial breaks with the easy press of a button.
Perhaps the most appealing feature of the new version of the TiVo Roamio, except for the upgraded storage, is the price point as to where the unit is placed. Instead of letting users pay with a monthly fee, the device appeals to the most cost-sensitive cord cutters. Therefore, the unit can be acquired with just a one-time fee which will immediately include the service.
