Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Review – Smaller in Size But Still Packs a Powerful Punch

Never let Sony’s line of compact cameras fool you into thinking its performance levels are subpar, especially with the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact. It is a small high-end phone that is still able to pack a powerful punch in terms of performance and feature offerings. The Z5 compact was made for those who want a phone that can really deliver but doesn’t want the bulky size to go with it. After all, there are not a lot of us who always want to go double-handed when holding our handsets.

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Review - Smaller in Size But Still Packs a Powerful Punch

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Defines Smaller Doesn’t Have to be Bad

The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact is brought into the tech world along with two of Sony’s premium handset offerings which are the regular Xperia Z5 and the Z5 Premium. Still, the Z5 Compact is priced at a higher-end market, despite its size. After all, higher-end specs demand higher-end price. Still, it is still appreciably cheaper than that of the regular Z5.

But enough about the Xperia Z5 Compact‘s price, there are features and specs to talk about. For the dimensions, it just follows closely to that of the regular Z5. The Compact is at 127 by 65 by 8.9-millimeters, which is compared to the 146 by 72 by 7.3-millimeters of the Z5. But the Compact is bigger in one aspect than the regular Z5 – its thickness. This is just to justify all those high-end hardware placed inside the more portable design. In terms of weight, the Compact weights in at 138-grams, which is 16-grams lighter than that of the Z5.

Those who are interested in purchasing the Z5 Compact can get them in either white, black, coral, or yellow colors. The black version is quite stylish, but the others are particularly bright.

The Z5 Compact may boast high-end specs, but it is still far from being a premium phone. It has a tiny 4.6-inch display with a pixel resolution of 720 by 1,280 with 323ppi. However, it is still far from the 428ppi on the regular Z5 or even the larger 806ppi on the Premium.

Still, with its compact design, a fingerprint sensor that does its job well, the Xperia Z-line advantage of having a long battery-life, and the impressive camera, all in a small package still makes the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact a great buy, especially for those who want smaller phones. However, it is still stuck with a 720p screen, which is quite a disappointment considering there are other phones in the market that offer higher display resolutions, even with small dimensions.
