Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 Review – Built for the PS4 Gamer

The gaming headset market is already crowded with units from different manufacturers, and then there’s the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0. So what makes this particular headset any different from the rest? To start, this one has been designed with maximum PlayStation 4 compatibility in mind. It is a wireless unit that comes with a surround sound and a very strong design. What’s more is that it is placed in quite the bargain price point as compared to other PS4 headsets out on the market.

Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 Review - Built for the PS4 Gamer

Got a PS4? Then You’ll Want the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0

The Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 is available in black or Glacier White colors. These color variations are meant to complement the two main iterations of the PlayStation 4. It features a very minimalistic design, which is a pleasant surprise considering many gaming headsets on the market look very busy.

It has an angular headband that rests just over the over-ear cups. The design is then complemented by the lack of wires and the sharp angles usually found in gaming headset detailing.

Both color variations sport a striking interior blue band. The device is mostly made out of a sturdy matte plastic. It has an excellent build quality that you won’t mind throwing inside a rucksack to bring around when your friend calls you over to play. For the earcups, they are finished in a faux-leather material. Still on the earcups, they have a fabric mesh over the speakers. As an added bonus, they fold flat for more portability.

The leatherette found on the earcups may or may not appease gamers as it can occasionally lead to sweaty ears, especially during those long gaming sessions. However, those who have tried the second iteration to the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset will notice a comfortable experience without the sweatiness.

It is equipped with a pair of 40-millimeter drivers found on each earcup. This gives the headset a beautifully rounded sound. Still, it is rather weak on the bass, especially on tracks that are particularly heavy on the low-end of the audio spectrum. There is a slight lack and warmth found on the bass, but what it lacks on low-end frequencies it makes up for clarity. Details are very well-pronounced that it can even rival some top-of-the-line headphones.

Overall, the Sony Wireless Stereo Headset 2.0 is a well-designed, affordable, and wireless headset that is built for PS4 gamers and to music lovers that love clarity more than bass in their tracks.
