Sidewalk labs- Google's New Effort To Help Improve City Life

Sidewalk labs, what is this all about? In the quest to make cities become a better place the Sidewalk labs is Google’s initiative to addressed problems such as driving, diabetes, and internet access. What are the most common problems that mainly affect big cities? One of it is the problem with overpriced housing and snailed vehicle movement due to traffic.

The giant search company announced on Wednesday about the creation of Sidewalk Labs which will mainly focused on developing a technology that will help reduce or even eliminate common problems with urban living.

 The startup urban innovation which is the Sidewalk lab led by a former chief executive of Bloomberg LP and New York city deputy mayor of economic development under then Mayor Michael Bloomberg is Dan Doctoroff, which will have a base office in New York.

Pertaining to the latest focused task of Google to help cities become more functional, Chief executive Larry Page said in a post at the Internet titan’s Google+ social network, “Sidewalk will focus on improving city life for everyone by developing and incubating urban technologies to address issues like cost of living, efficient transportation and energy usage.”

 While Dan Doctoroff said in a release that “We are at the beginning of a historic transformation in cities,” and further added that, “We hope that Sidewalk will play a major role in developing technology products, platforms and advanced infrastructure that can be implemented at scale in cities around the world.”

 Despite the fact that Google’s search and advertising business is ranked to be the top most, and reigning king in the internet world but another fact remains true the internet evolves that is why the co-founders of the giant search company Larry Page and Sergey Brin are attentive to were the future revenue streams will flow thus and so the company is investing almost in everything that has something to do for the future from smartphones to wearable devices to driver less cars and now the Sidewalk labs that has a mission to make cities a better place by first developing a technology either a product or platform which will contribute to improve the life in the city.
