Chances are you were impressed when the Jaguar XF came out as it had the flagship 3.0-liter V-6 engine, but you might be even more impressed with the Jaguar XF 2.0D. The 2.0 model promises to be a big seller as aims to give low emissions while still being able to deliver top performance for its class. This makes the vehicle a looker for those looking for cost-conscious cars.

Jaguar XF 2.0D Review – The Pick of the Lot

The Jaguar XF 2.0D Promises Low Emission with Top-of-the-line Performance

The Jaguar XF 2.0D uses the Ingenium four-cylinder diesel that was first seen in the smaller XE. It is available with the same choice as well; this means that interested buyers can choose between the 161bhp model or the 178bhp one.

When you press the Start button on the vehicle, the 2.0-liter engine will spark to life before settling down in a more mild-mannered tone in terms of a machine clattering its gears. The sound is not intrusive and it is definitely not worse than what a four-cylinder can achieve with its roar. However, this type of engine could not match the V-6 engine for refinement.

Acceleration is effortless on the XF 2.0D. This is because it is enhanced by the eight-speed automatic box, but there is the optional six-speed manual transmission that will net you a smaller price for this vehicle. Nonetheless, when the car is in auto mode, it will deliver slick shifts and will responds quickly when you push on the throttle. When you press on the pedal a bit harder, and the vehicle will hold on to a gear for an even stronger acceleration. This will give it a little lift while the transmission will change seamlessly.

While there are noticeable changes to this 2.0 model, there are areas wherein it is virtually identical to the more expensive V-6 diesel. This aspect is also the same when looking at the car’s cabin. Even though this car has a mix of soft leather for its seats and aluminum-effect trim inserts, there are some materials here and there that do feel cheap as compared to the interiors found in the BMW 5 series. Still, this Jaguar has a solid build quality and has a luxurious feel overall.

The Jaguar XF 2.0D has a blend of style, low running costs, and space mixed in altogether into one premium package. There is an R-Sport trim that will give an extra dose of luxurious looks that can even turn heads, especially when the vehicle is parked by the side of the road.
