The Gigabyte Aorus X5 is being advertised as the greatest in terms of gaming performance in the 15-inch laptop sector. Design-wise, it is a super-slick compact computer that is riddled with high-end hardware and a flurry of custom features. These are designed to make the ultimate mobile gaming station. However, there are the likes of powerful gaming systems in the market, such as the Alienware 15 (which wowed the world with its highly impressive performance). So how can the X5 measure up to the competition?
Could the Gigabyte Aorus X5 Beat the Competition With its Performance in Gaming?
There is a certain trend in the gaming laptop sector that goes for the unique in terms of style, and the Gigabyte Aorus X5 follows with that trend. The hard lines found on the machine, and the slightly raised beak, make this metal laptop’s cover almost otherworldly.
For its connections, there are four USB 3.0 ports, a mini-DisplayPort, and an HDMI port. There are also other ports such as D-Sub, RJ-45, surround-sound inputs, and an SD card slot. The laptop also has Killer LAN as compared to having an Intel NIC chip. The former is said to provide better ping rate and reduce lag as compared to having the latter chip.
There is a quadruple storage system which assures gamers that they won’t be running out of space any time soon. When all of the storage systems are combined, it amounts up to 3.5TB of disk space. That’s massive as compared to the usual standards on laptops built for more casual purposes.
Its design aesthetics calls forth a thin and lightweight machine. Its dimensions are 390 x 272 x 22.9-millimeters and weighs in at 2.5-kilograms. The Alienware 15 is 8.9-millimeters thicker and is 0.83-kilograms heavier. This sounds great but it feels like a double-edged sword for the Aorus X5. The laptop’s keyboard has been compromised a bit to support the slender frame. The keys are not that great in terms of being that reactive. Furthermore, said keyboard keys have a little less travel and they do not feel terribly tactile or clicky.
But when you look at the inside of the device, then you would know how much of a beast this laptop is. It has an Intel Core i7 processor with dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 965M graphics. It has 16GB DDR3 RAM right out of the box, but owners can take advantage of boosting the memory up to a maximum of 32GB.
The Gigabyte Aorus X5 is a fantastic gaming machine and can easily take on the Alienware 15 any day. But of course, all these premium specs and looks come with a high-end price tag.
