Fuhu Nabi Elev-8 Review – A Kid-Friendly Tablet

If you think that your child is not yet ready for their very own Apple iPad, or other mobile slates, then you may want to provide them with a less expensive, kid-centric tablet such as the Fuhu Nabi Elev-8. At its price point, it may even be your best option to give to your kids if you’re in the market for a ton of child-friendly content found in a mobile tablet. This 8-inch tablet already comes with a protective rubber bumper. It also has enough battery life to keep your kids occupied for a good, long while.

Fuhu Nabi Elev-8 Review - A Kid-Friendly Tablet

The Fuhu Nabi Elev-8 is a Solid Option Even With Mediocre Hardware

The Fuhu Nabi Elev-8 is fairly small and is easy to carry around due to its light weight. Although, once you wrap it around its included rubber bumper, it does become a bit heftier. For its dimensions, it measures in at 8.98 x 5.94 x 0.94-inches and it weighs 1.16-pounds (bumper included). The included rubber bumper eliminates the need for an optional case, although you are still free to purchase your own case for it. Also, the grippy material of the bumper makes it easy for children to hold onto it.

At the top of the tablet, you will find its power and volume controls, along with a microSD card slot. Said slot is able to support only up to 32GB of extra storage. At the unit’s right side, there’s the headphone jack and the power port. Unlike other Android tablets, the Elev-8 Tablet has a proprietary charging port. Therefore, do not expect a standard micro USB cord to work on this unit.

Internal storage ramps up to 17.65GB, which is not that much but it does allow for a decent amount of storage space for all your kid-friendly apps. It’s 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution display, but again, it’s perfectly decent for your children’s games and for streaming from Netflix. Although there are other slates out there, such as the Asus Zen Pad S, which can do better in terms of screen display for not much more money. But then again, you’re not purchasing this tablet for yourself, but for your kids which practically eliminates the need for really strong hardware. In this regard, the company mostly succeeds.

There are even lots of good preloaded content and options for kids found inside the Fuhu Nabi Elev-8. For adults, they would appreciate the parental controls included in the slate.
