Elite: Dangerous Can be Played on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive

Frontier, the developer of Elite: Dangerous, along with Oculus Rift have both announced the news on their respective websites just recently. It was met with quite a bit of fanfare as well. “Frontier was one of the earliest Kickstarter backers and developed Elite Dangerous with VR in mind,” as stated on the post found on the Oculus blog. “It also supports cross-platform multiplayer, which means you can explore the galaxy with players across Oculus, consoles, PC, and Mac.”

What Elite: Dangerous (Vive and Oculus Rift) is that it is a massively-multiplayer online game wherein players will be able to explore the more dangerous regions of our own galaxy. The narrative found within the game is that of a player-driven one and players are going to take part in realistic combat to go along with the new VR gaming system.

As for the graphics, it is pretty decent enough for a virtual reality game, and the vastness and openness that will be felt is perfect for showing off the many advantages of playing inside a VR realm. Oculus also stated the following within their blog post, “The Elite Dangerous universe is even more fun in VR, with billions of star systems to explore, dozens of ships to pilot, and countless battles to win.”

Oculus has also dealt with some concerns about individuals who own older DK2 headsets. With the announcement of the game, it will also be compatible with such devices as well. Therefore, the game promises to be both versatile and fun, in more ways than one.

The Elite: Dangerous title is nothing new as it has already been release for the PC some time ago. However, the virtual reality experience is exciting and totally new for the videogame. Therefore, instead of plotting courses with the use of your mouse and while looking at your computer monitor, you will now do so using the VR headset along with its controllers.
