Divoom Voombox Outdoor Review – A Solid Bluetooth Speaker Entering a Crowded Market

The Divoom Voombox Outdoor is a solidly built Bluetooth speaker, but that alone won’t separate it from a crowded competition. It is made with a splashproof design, and the volume levels can get pretty loud. These are certainly positives, but it tends to suffer from distortion especially when playing tracks with deep sub-bass content at higher volume levels. It also lacks clarity in the high frequencies which is a disappointment.

The Divoom Voombox Outdoor Falls Short in Making an Absolute Impression

With a splash-proof rating of IP44, the Divoom Voombox Outdoor is ideal for poolside music listening. Its measurements are 3 x 7.2 x 2.3-inches, and it only weighs a measly 1.5-pounds. This particular portable Bluetooth speaker is available in different colors, them being blue, black, red, or green. It features six drivers in total which can eke out 15W of power. While it is light enough to carry around from room-to-room, it can weigh down a purse or a tote bag over time.

There is a control panel found at the top of the Bluetooth speaker which houses the Power, Bluetooth, Play/Pause, and Volume Up/Down buttons. The volume controls are also able to do hand track navigation, and the Play/Pause button will be able to accept and end calls that go along with the speaker’s built-in speakerphone functionality.

The company rates the battery life of the Voombox Outdoor to last approximately 12-hours. However, results may vary depending on volume levels. Another notable feature of the speaker is that it is NFC-enabled, but it should also be noted that pairing via Bluetooth is also a quick and easy process.

While it does offer a solid build, it falls short on the audio department. When playing tracks with powerful sub-bass content, the speaker has a sense of deep bass when playing at moderate volumes but is quick to distort when you turn the volume higher. It becomes more apparent when you reach the max volume. Even though this is a caveat in itself, it does not come as such an outright shock considering the fairly low price you have to shell out to get this unit.

Overall, the Divoom Voombox Outdoor is a solid choice if you are looking for a portable Bluetooth speaker to join you while you go to the pool (just don’t bring it with you in the water). For poolside music playing, it does offer a decent performance. However, audiophiles are advised to steer clear from it and look somewhere else.
