Denon HEOS HomeCinema Review – Good Sound, But Not so User-Friendly

The Denon HEOS HomeCinema comes off as a premium soundbar, and this can immediately be felt once you get to take a look at its price tag. It offers a decent home-theater sound experience while boasting excellent music replay. It includes more connections than what most soundbars in the market can offer. These include an HDMI port, Wi-Fi connectivity, and it can even distribute the audio coming off of a TV throughout the house. The number of streaming services compatible with the device is also comprehensive. However, with its bevy of features, it should have been easier to use.

Denon HEOS HomeCinema Review - Good Sound, But Not so User-Friendly

The Denon HEOS HomeCinema is a Great Performer, But Not for Soundbar Newbies

For its design, the Denon HEOS HomeCinema sports the same look as with many other soundbars. It is a black cloth-covered rectangle-shaped device with a logo found on its front. However, there are a few design flourishes that make the device’s design a bit unique from the rest of the competition. First, there is a small glowing LED “power” strip located at the bottom of the device. This is defeatable if you so desire. It is also 40-inches in width which would suit TVs that are have 42-inch screens and up.

There is a wireless subwoofer that accompanies the soundbar. This peripheral is relatively small than industry standards as its dimensions are only 12.3 x 6.8 x 14.37-inches.

What’s not great about the HEOS HomeCinema Soundbar is it lacks an actual remote; something that most soundbars already have. This lacks the ability to control the device with any on-screen menu. All the controls will be done with the use of a smartphone app. Still, the soundbar has an option to program your TV remote for an easier way to use it. Nonetheless, the inclusion of a separate remote would have been easier for most people.

When it comes to audio performance, this HEOS soundbar comes with a very natural midrange, that comes with crisp dialogue during movies. There is also a wonderful, relaxing feel when listening to acoustic music. This soundbar has no problem filling a room with the right audio. Furthermore, it has the capability of a wide dynamic range, more so than most of its competitors.

The Denon HEOS HomeCinema promotes a great range of features and is an exciting addition to any home entertainment system. However, most of us would only wish that it was easier to setup and use.
