When the first Dell XPS 13 2015 was released into the market this year, it featured a slick and stylish design with powerful specs to boot. There was also a beautiful display that can even win awards. As a matter of fact, the laptop was so good that you might think that the tech company had no more ways to improve on it. But it is in this aspect we were placed in the wrong as there is a refresh of this majestically wonderful laptop.
What Can be Expected of the Dell XPS 13 2015 Refresh?
Right off the bat, the new Dell XPS 13 2015 looks completely identical to its predecessor, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. It has a metal frame that gives a compact look. It has 304 x 200 x 15-millimeters for its dimensions. It has a sleek and luxurious look that can even rival the likes of Apple’s Macbook.
Another impressive feature here is the company’s InfinityEdge screen technology. This reduces the bezel size to mere millimeters. The company claims that this is the “world’s smallest 13-inch laptop” and it clearly shows that in its display.
Moving forward, even thought the Dell XPS 13 2015 laptop has an extremely slim architecture, the company did a decent job in taking advantage of what little surface real estate it has. There is still a reasonable selection of ports and connections. On the device’s right and left sides, there are two USB 3.0 ports, headphones socket, an HDMI port, an SD card reader, a Noble Lock slot, and the company’s Thunderbolt 3 connector.
Dell also placed hardware improvements on this refresh as it now has more storage options, them being 128GB SATA, 256GB PCIe, 512GB PCIe, and 1TB PCIe SSD. Even though there are great improvements to this refresh, the placement of the front-facing camera is still a wonder since it can be found on the lower left side of the screen. Meaning, if you were to call someone on Skype or Google Hangouts, they will get a nice view of what’s in your nose.
The initial laptop for the Dell XPS 13 2015 was perhaps one of the most portable ultrabooks you can even get your hands on. It has a compact design, comfortable typing experience, solid performance, and an astounding mobile productivity aid. Now, the refreshed model adds hardware and software improvements and is perhaps one of the best no-nonsense laptops in today’s market. Just about everything about it has been made from good to great. That is, except for that front-camera placement.
