The Dell UltraSharp UP3214Q is the UP2414Q larger brother. The latter monitor had an impressive 4K resolution that was fit inside a compact frame of 24-inches. This one is now 32-inches and still sports the promise of delivering similar levels of color accuracy but now in a larger, 4K-friendler screen. With the enhancement in size comes all the beefiness in price. It is considerably more expansive than its 24-inch counterpart. But it does have a good list of features and an amazing hardware spec-sheet which overall spells out good value for money.
The Dell UltraSharp UP3214Q is Larger and More Accommodating to 4K Resolution
A closer look at the spec-sheet of the Dell UltraSharp UP3214Q shares most of its elements found from its 24-inch cousing. It has one HDMI 1.4 port, a Mini DisplayPort and DisplayPort 1.2 connections for video, a memory card reader, and four USB 3.0 ports. These are all pretty standard offerings, however it still lacks the HDMI 2.0 port. It should also be worth mentioning that the USB ports also support battery charging as well.
For its stand, it lacks the ability to pivot. Hence, the monitor is not able to be shown in portrait mode, but this is fairly uncommon with monitors of this size. But what the stand does have is a fair range of height and tilt adjustment.
Looking at the UP3214Q from a design standpoint, and you will get a premium-looking display. Dell has crafted this monitor to the likes of professional-grade displays. It has the right balance of luxury and restraint as it does not steer near the likes of standard monitor styling, which would otherwise make this particular unit a dull and unexciting option.
When it comes to image quality, it is near-excellent. Images are sharp enough and colors have a decent level of vibrance and saturation in them. However, there is one problem with such a monitor that is of a large size and sports a high resolution, and that is it is hard to make the quality consistent throughout the entire panel.
With its 4K resolution offering, wonderfully premium and minimalistic design, near-excellent image quality, and sturdy build, the Dell UltraSharp UP3214Q is perfect for high-resolution workflows. However, it has its own set of shortcomings, such as the lack of HDMI 2.0 port or the inconsistent image quality and brightness across the entire panel, but these are not actual deal-breakers and can be worked around with.
