Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker Review – Facing an Uphill Battle

The Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker is one of the larger options that you can get. It comes with a handy digital countdown timer, which you can program to stop cooking after a certain number of hours rather than having to wait to switch it off manually. The controls on the device is simple enough but are not exactly what you would call intuitive. Results from cooking are excellent, but there are more affordable slow cookers with a similar size out in the market, and some of them are even more versatile than this one while sharing a similar price point. This gives this particular device a run for its money.

Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker Review - Facing an Uphill Battle

The Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker Faces a Steep Competition

As stated earlier, the Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker is one of the larger ones. It is a round slow-cooker with a ceramic pot. The downside to using ceramic is that it can be very heavy, especially when it’s full of food. It is also harder to clean that a non-stick pot. However, the upside here is that heat will retain well. Furthermore, you can clean the pot without fear of damaging the non-stick surface.

Found in its name, the Crock-Pot Slow Cooker has a 4.7-liter capacity. Therefore, even if you fill the pot to about 75-percent of its capacity, you will still get a 3.5-liter working capacity and the rest is for bubbling. With such a capacity, you can serve up dishes enough for a large family.

Aside from its large capacity, its other main selling point is its countdown timer. You can program it to cook at high or low heat, and you can set it to anything from 30-minutes to 20-hours, in 30-minute increments. After the timer reaches 0, it will then automatically switch to keep warm mode. However, this particular kitchen appliance does not have a delay startup feature, so you can only manually stop it.

Its controls are simple to use, but there are times that they can become counter-intuitive. For instance, you can press the Select button, and not the Power button to turn the device on. You can also use the arrow buttons to choose the heat setting, after which you might press the power button to think that you’re going to start cooking, but then the cooker will switch off then you will have to start all over again.

Despite its controls, the Crock-Pot 4.7L Countdown Slow Cooker does its job really well when you can get the device cooking. Foods will come out delicious and with the right level of texture you need. However, there are other slow cookers that have similar properties as this one and some of them are placed at a lower price point.
