There have been many Android Wear smartwatches that go for the luxurious flair of the traditional, dressy timepieces of old, but that’s not the case with the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch. Casio’s latest smartwatch offering differs from the premium-looking path, and instead goes for the individual who is more of the outdoors-type. To start with what the company has done to their new watch, it is huge. If you think that other wearable techs are already made with a lot of heft, then you haven’t tried wearing this one yet.
The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch is Definitely Huge
Wearing the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch on your wrist and you won’t miss its huge face and large bezels. It is unapologetically massive, but this is the point of the watch to begin with. While it is big in size, its weight isn’t one to match its already large face. It weighs in at 93-grams, which is quite acceptable being a wearable tech. However, when you take a good gander at its dimensions, it measures in an enormous 61.7 x 56.4 x 15.7-millimeters.
The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10 is not something that would replace your fancy timepiece that you would normally wear inside a fancy restaurant. This wearable tech is exuding functionality more than fashion. This is the type of smartwatch you would want to wear when you’re going on hikes, climbing on mountains, cycling around a mountain path, and the like.
Simply put, Casio’s outdoor watch is built for, well, the outdoors (if it’s not that obvious enough). It is compliant with US military standards in terms of its ruggedness and it is also water resistant for up to 50-meters. It also comes with a built-in compass, which is easy to access with a slight tap of a dedicated button found on the device’s side.
The watch is built with two layers – one is the monochrome LCD and the other a color one. It automatically switches between each one depending on the conditions. For instance, if you’re under bright sunlight, then the watch’s display will automatically go into its monochrome more. This is to allow reading time without any glare.
Also, should you stick solely to its monochrome LCD, you can get up to a month’s worth of battery life before you have to take out its equally large proprietary charger. However, while you’re in monochrome mode, you can only display the time.
The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch is a massive Android Wear which does not have a design to be placed as an instance classic look. However, for the person who would want a sturdier smartwatch to take on outdoor activities, this should definitely be one of your top choices.
