The Canton DM 9 is a “flat” soundbar which is primarily designed to be mounted on a wall. When you glance at its spec sheet, it will reveal a similar hi-fi approach as it has a three-way driver arrangement. It even complements this with a few neat features and a decent array of connectivity. Perhaps the trouble about this particular soundbar is that it is not cheap. Those who want to acquire this should be prepared to spend quite the bit of cash than the norm.
The Canton DM 9 Offers Excellent Build Quality and Detailed Sound
For its design, the Canton DM 9 may not be the most delightful-looking soundbar on the market. Nonetheless, it is still quite the looker for a wall-mounted speaker. It has an all-metal casing that is very solid and it also means that the bar is reassuringly heavy. This heft does bode well for its audio performance. There are also curved edges and a metal grille that does exude a premium look.
The DM 9 is being called as “flat” by Canton because of its wall-friendly dimensions. It comes into the market with measurements of 70-millimeters in depth and 120-millimeters in height. It has a neutral design but it does this well. Its looks complement most flatscreen television sets quite nicely. The soundbar is available in black and white, the latter being better suited for silver TVs.
It is a minimalist’s wet dream. On the unit, there are no buttons as everything is controlled with the use of a supplied remote (so don’t ever lose that). There’s also an LED display which will only appear through the front mesh whenever you press a button. Once no activity has been rendered after a few seconds, the display will disappear promptly.
Like the company’s own DM 50 and DM 75, the DM 9 offers a magnificent sound quality the likes of which many audiophiles will come to know and love. The best part about its audio is the clarity. It is able to dish out clean and natural-sounding audio. Therefore, you can watch and kick back to a movie without being distracted. Even when listening to high volumes, there are no signs of distortion. However, this also means that the bass does lack a bit of “kick,” but it is placed in an appropriate level.
The Canton DM 9 is a wall-mountable soundbar that delivers excellent build quality and a marvelous audio performance even though it has thin dimensions. However, it is placed in a price point that is not quite accessible for many.
