The 2016 Volkswagen Passat is slightly different from the models seen within the years 2012 to 2015. In the wake of the recent news that has been going on with the company, VW brings in the Passat with a modus to deliver enthusiasm; and brought it they did.
The 2016 Volkswagen Passat is the Result of Customer Feedback
Even though the 2016 Volkswagen Passat does fail to give its competitors a run for their money, it does make for a better and more attractive car. The company has taken a lot of thought into the research, development, and manufacturing of this vehicle as they have placed a lot of customer feedback into this vehicle. There are many improved connectivity features thrown into the car such as a new electronics and infotainment system. Said system will allow for a slew of driver-assistance systems. These include blind-spot, lane-departure, and forward-collision warnings.
For the front end of the new Volkswagen Passat, it receives updates that addresses the IIHS’s ambitious and rigorous crash tests. It also adds about 50 to 100 pounds of weight to the car.
A new year, a new model, so this means new looks. The styling has been altered in which VW admits that “existing customers were happy with it, but it wasn’t enough to draw in new ones.” As for the entire front end, more specifically the A-pillar forward, it could be argued that these changes should have been more striking in appearance. Still, it does add some flair and intricacy; more notably speaking, there is a thick, silver lip that will span the entire width of the headlights and the grille.
The new Passat is a comfortable long-distance cruiser, and that’s not just because it handles well. The cabin is still one of the best in its class. The chassis is no joke as well as it absorbs uneven surfaces with assurance. It is both agile and well-composed at the same time. It also has precise steering which means this family sedan does not mind playing around when the driver wants it to.
It has an entry-level engine. Said engine is a turbocharged 1.8-liter TSI four-cylinder one that is able to pull off a modest 170 horsepower at 6200 rpm and a respectable 184 pound-feet of torque at 1500 rpm.
The upgraded 2016 Volkswagen Passat deserves a closer look for interested purchasers. The creation of this vehicle may be a well-appointed attack on the Accord, Camry, and other vehicles found in the same class.
