Milan Italy – In a company’s general meeting the Luxottica’s CEO Massimo Vian said that “The partnership with the U.S. tech giant to build Glass—the Internet-connected eyewear—is going ahead.”
It is known that on January this year Google discontinued selling its first ever version of Google Glass an eye wearable and move it inside Google X lab, the moved caused sparked of speculations that Google will abandon the Google glass, yet when the company clearly stated that it will not go that way anticipation rises and doubts gone.
Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt told The Wall Street Journal that it has been put under the watch of Tony Fadell, head of Google’s Nest connected home division, “to make it ready for users.”
The CEO of Luxottica Mr. Massimo Vian already meet Google Glass’ new team in California. The CEO did not talk and give further details on when will the Glass be available to the public, but he told shareholders that “In Google, there are some second thoughts on how to interpret version3, what you saw was version 1. We’re now working on version 2, which is in preparation.”
On the other hand a Google spokeswoman has a brief comment about the meeting of the two companies according to her “the team is heads down building the future of the product,” but did not divulge further information. For now we will just have to wait for more information aside from the information given by the Glass chief Ivy Ross that the updated gadget will have a longer battery life and relatively cheaper than the initial version. There is also an improvement in the sound and display department.
Why Google Stopped Selling the initial version of its Google glass?
The reason why Google stopped selling its initial eyewear version is that there has been an issue of privacy. It was publicly criticized for invasion of privacy because the glasses allows its users to take photos and record videos secretly. Annoyance indeed, the public shows little interest to the glasses as evident on the low sales performance of this product.
