In a recent event, the Acer Switch Alpha 12 has been revealed and it is the latest 2-in-1 hybrid notebook that graces the company’s product line. What immediately sets this notebook apart from its rivals is that it doesn’t have any fans to cool the system’s internals. Instead, it uses fancy liquid cooling technology to bypass any need for fans.
The Acer Switch Alpha 12 Has Liquid Cooling Tech
As the name for the Acer Switch Alpha 12 suggests, it has a 12-inch IPS display that allows users to enjoy a resolution of up to 2,160 x 1,440, and it fits quite neatly in a 9.5-millimeter tablet chassis. Making up the hybrid portion of the device are two full-sized attachable keyboards. One of the keyboards has backlit keys whereas the other variant does not. They both connect to the tablet portion by way of magnets.
When combined, the Switch Alpha 12 tablet and keyboard weighs a very portable 1.25-kilograms. With this weight, it still manages to squeeze in Intel’s 6th Generation Core processors, which are available in e3U, i5, and i7 options. Furthermore, the hybrid has the Intel HD Graphics 520 installed for great graphical performance. With the processor, it does help keep the tablet running on Windows 10 to be running almost completely devoid of lag.
Aside from the processor and its graphical prowess, there is also 8GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage space. Battery life is claimed to be at eight hours, which should make for a decent day’s work or play on using the device.
With such powerful hardware, you would think that the hybrid would have it difficult to keep up and risk of overheating is very imminent. However, in comes its highlighted feature, which is its very own liquid cooling technology. The company dubs it as LiquidLoop, and it works by using the heat generated by the silicon in order to cause the coolant to expand and circulate around the tablet’s inner workings. This kind of cooling technology is a neat take on the subject, which also makes the tech manufacturer to avoid any use of fans.
Furthermore, fans of tablet hybrids will be happy to know that the Acer Switch Alpha 12, just like the iPad Pro and the Huawei Matebook, come with its very own stylus. Dubbed as the Acer Active Pen, the company tells that the stylus has 256 levels of sensitivity which makes it better as scribbling and pointing with.
