2016 Buick Regal GS AWD Review – Falls Short in Performance But Makes up in Features

The 2016 Buick Regal GS AWD is a great contender for its price. It has a sleek and modern look, a well-appointed cabin, and a pretty good list of features. Speaking of features, the tech found inside the vehicle excels in almost every way. For instance, there’s an 8-inch InteliLink touch-capacitive infotainment system which is intuitive, and adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.

The 2016 Buick Regal GS AWD Has a Good Long List of Features

For the engine found in the 2016 Buick Regal GS AWD, it is that of a turbocharged, 259-horsepower, 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine which is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. It comes with all-wheel drive, along with GS and Sport modes.

As for its list of features for the standard model, it has HID bi-xenon headlights, powered and heated exterior mirrors (that has integrated turn signal indicators), leather seating surfaces, keyless entry and ignition, ambient lighting, front and rear parking assist, a rear spoiler, eight-way heated sport front seats (comes with power lumbar support), a heated steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, puddle lights, and a rearview camera.

Furthermore, the 2016 model of the Buick Regal GS AWD gets a Buick IntelliLink interface with an 8-inch touchscreen and an expanded app support. The previous model for said interface did not have the touch-capacitive screen nor did it have an extensive array of app support. This new screen is augmented by buttons and knobs below it for easier access to some features. There are some elements on the screen that are customizable, such as the interchangeable icons found in the application tray on the top edge of the display.

With its engine, it falls short in terms of power and performance when compared to its rivals, especially those from BMW and Lexus. Still, its performance in terms of acceleration is more than decent enough for everyday scenarios. It delivers a pretty decent drive when passing and merging into freeway traffic. Driving the vehicle is especially smooth. When you kick the GS and Sport modes into gear, these will adjust steering, transmission, and suspension to sharpen the handling.

Even though the 2016 Buick Regal GS AWD does have its own set of shortcomings, it is placed in a price class that can be accessed easier as opposed to higher-end models. Even though it lacks in the power and performance departments, it makes up for it with a good long list of features that are made to be functional and fashionable.
