2015 Fiat 500e Review – Giving the Economic Treatment to the Italian Flair

The 2015 Fiat 500e offers a range of 87 miles on a single charge. Charging the car is simple, but quite long. To achieve a full-charge, owners would have to connect it to a regular 110-volt outlet and it will take a slow 24-hours to complete. You can cut that time down greatly when you connect it to a 240-volt outlet as it will only take about 4-hours to have a full-charge. Unfortunately, this vehicle does not support DC fast charging.

The 2015 Fiat 500e is an Electric Car With a Bevy of Features

When drivers slip behind the wheel of the 2015 Fiat 500e, the first thing that they’ll notice is the lack of a gear shift. There is only one surprising gear shift on this vehicle, and that is it’s Drive. When you insert the key to rev up the ignition (yes, an actual key if you’re used to keyless ignitions when it comes to modern-day vehicles), just push the button labeled as “D” to start driving the car.

The Fiat 500e delivers 111-horsepower, which puts the output in between to that of a naturally-aspirated 500 and a turbocharged 500. Nonetheless, drivers and passengers will find it a smooth driving experience, even at highway speeds of 70mph.

However, the real joy of riding this vehicle is in the city. There is an instant torque which gives quick acceleration. Its short wheelbase and quick steering ration provide a more nimble approach to handling. The ride is comfortable enough to battle against rough city pavements.

It has power-regenerating brakes which have a linear feel to them. These brakes are also not as “grabby” as found in other electric and hybrid vehicles. Its 15-inch aluminum wheels are wrapped around with low-rolling resistance rubber. These hard tires does lower the fun a bit when driving the 500e, but t does add up for better efficiency.

When it comes to tech inside the cabin, it’s pretty minimal. Located at the front and center of the interiors, there is a large gauge display which shows the current charge, range, and speed. There is also a menu to watch out for a variety of vehicle system information. There is even a gauge to check for your driving behavior so it encourages drivers to keep it on the green level for maximum efficiency.

While you won’t exactly jump around with joy whilst driving the 2015 Fiat 500e, it still brings plenty in terms of fun. This is an engaging city vehicle that brings in a sense of style and moderate power performance.
