The Windows phone is seen to be striving to get in the smartphone race in which the world clearly sees Android and iOS as the main competitors; but Panos Panay and the team under Microsoft Devices aims to change all that with the Lumia 950 and 950 XL.
The new smartphones are meant to be heavy hitters, much like the Surface did when it arrived onto the scene and wowed the world with a great Windows-powered tablet. These new Lumia phones are here to tell the world the Windows mobile still has what it takes to give the world something to get excited for.
What Can the Lumia 950 and 950XL Have to Offer?
Right when you are able to pick up the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, you will immediately notice that these devices are incredibly lightweight. However, this should not be a cause for a total celebratory response, as the reason for its weight is because it sacrificed on the material. Those who have already tried lifting up the phone felt that the phone feels “cheap.”
However, these are just the first impressions of some people as the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL pack pretty good hardware specs. They have the Snapdragon 808 and Snapdragon 810 processors respectively. Because of its powerful chipset, these are also the only two phones in the Lumia line that can connect to a PC with Microsoft’s Continuum feature.
Another plus to these mobile phones is that the back cover can be removed. Big whoop, right? It should be as many smartphones of today do not have this feature, leaving external storage and a removable battery to be left as a dream. With these new Lumia phones, you can expand the memory by putting in a microSD card into its respective port, and also remove the battery (which makes battery replacement so much easier and lighter on the budget).
Furthermore, the phones come with an incredible camera in which the Lumia lines are known for. It adds a new generation Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) module, along with other algorithm changes to the camera’s performance.
There are still other things that these phones can boast about, but it is not without its own set of flaws. In other words, it may be a great contender, but it is far from perfect. For instance, there are those who claim that there are graphical mishaps with the display. Also, there are times when the touchscreen is not as responsive as it could take several tries before the drop-down Action center can be displayed.
Overall, the Lumia 950 and 950XL will boast much usability, but it will not be able to cater to all requests.
