How To Make Icons Smaller On Galaxy J7?

If you want to place more icons on your limited home screen in Samsung Galaxy J7 then you need to decrease their size.

As was the case with Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 model, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is slightly bigger in size than Samsung Galaxy J7 2015. The new design is much sleeker and has a metal frame rather than a plastic one as was the case with the 2015 model.

However, the back cover is still made of plastic and has caused some issues of wear and tear for some reviewers. But even with a plastic cover at the back, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 doesn’t look cheap because that same backside has been brushed with a metal finish pretty neatly.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a slight camera bump near the area where the camera is located but unless you really want your phone to be super plain, it isn’t that big of an issue.

In fact, it isn’t an issue at all since, as a whole, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) models’ components such as LED flash and speaker framework is very well constructed.

You won’t have any problems handling Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) because its edges are very smooth and the body is super flat.

The buttons on the sides have retained their traditional look and layout as the Power/Unlock button has been placed on the opposite side of volume control buttons.

Samsung Galaxy phones have been known to have very little in the way of bezels but Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) isn’t one of those smartphones from Samsung.

At the bottom of the smartphone screen you have three buttons. On the left, you have the button that allows you to manage tasks and switch them.

All buttons are capacitive in nature so you don’t have to worry about pushing on these too hard in order to make them function well.

If we move on from the front of the smartphone to its bottom side, we’ll be able to see a microUSB port, the primary mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack. All are pretty standard features these days, so no surprises there.

There is nothing much to talk about when it comes to the top side of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016.

If the back, plastic, cover of the phone is removed then it reveals a 3300 mAh battery along with microSIM and microSD card slots. The good news is that the battery is completely removable. So you don’t have to worry about throwing your phone away once its battery dies. You can get a new battery from any shop you want once it dies.

There is also a Near Field Communications (NFC) chip on the back panel.

Overall, the look and feel of Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) is pretty solid. The metal frame feels luxurious and the 5.5 inch isn’t that bothersome when held.

As mentioned in the introduction, Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) comes with a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display which isn’t anything new if you compare it to Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 model.

A reminder though that the international version of the smartphone will only ship with a 720p screen. That isn’t particularly a bad thing since Samsung wants to keep Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) price well within the range of average customers who aren’t looking to spend big on a smartphone device.

The screen has a density of 267 ppi and comes with a RGB matrix.

Samsung has also included a mode feature for its Super AMOLED smartphones. There is a basic mode where the color display is most accurate.

The second mode is AMOLED cinema where colors are displayed in an oversaturated state. The third mode strikes a balance between the two previous modes and is known as AMOLED photo mode.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is built with a screen that is able to offer incredible contrast. The brightness levels of the screen are sufficient enough to handle 353 nits. And if you happen to turn on the Outdoor mode then, brightness levels are increased to 484 nits.

And that means you’ll be able to operate your Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 smartphone in broad daylight without confronting any problems.

Galaxy J7’s (J76) brightness is high enough with a sunlight contrast ratio of 3.756 but you can further boost it to 3.902 by turning on Outdoor mode.

On a side note, you can rest assured that your home screen will look just like the TouchWiz home screen of any other Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

If we turn our attention to the notifications area then we can easily observe that it’s as busy as always.

How Does Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Perform?

For clarity’s sake, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will ship with two versions. Version one will have a Exynos 7870 chipset while version two will be boosted by a Snapdragon 617.

In short, there won’t be much difference between the two variants of the phone.

Both versions will have an eight Cortex-A53 cores at 1.6 GHz. Well, most of the time in any case.

Because while the Exynos version has all cores running at 1.6GHz, Snapdragon has about 4 of them running at 1.6 Ghz and another one at 1 GHz.

You shouldn’t experience much drop in performance though.

As far as GPU is concerned, the Snapdragon variant will come with an Adreno 405 which is one of the most powerful smartphone GPU in the world, while Exynos will have a Mali-T830 MP2 which is no slouch either.

Both versions of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will come with 2GB RAM.

Some prospective customers might like to go for the Exynos 7870 variant for the simple reason that this chipset is manufactured using a process that is 14nm FinFET.

That offers huge energy saving over other manufacturing processes such as the 28nm ones.

GeekBench that provides regular authoritative CPU performance ratings reported that Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) has a huge lead over its competition when it comes to multi-core processing performance.

But it falls behind the rest in single-core performance tests.

On the AnTuTu 6 compound benchmark, Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) ranked just below average. In all honesty, that was to be expected since Galaxy J7 (J76) runs on a low CPU clock speed and a relatively underpowered GPU.

Snapdragon 652, and even Snapdragon 617, were able to achieve higher rankings than Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

That’s not all. The performance on GPU benchmarks for Mali T830-MP2 wasn’t that better either. Mali only managed 9.5 fps on GFX 3.0 Manhattan onscreen test for 720p resolution and dropped performance even further to 4.9 fps on 1080p resolution.

Basemark X test ranked Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) even below Oppo F1 Plus (that smartphone has the newer Mali-T860MP2 so it is understandable). The only competitor that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) was able to beat on this test was Lenovo Vibe K4 Note that has a very old generation Mali GPU.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) comes in two versions. One version is a single SIM smartphone while the other is a dual SIM smartphone. The SIM card manager allows you to pick and use your choice of SIM for functions such as voice, text and internet data in case of the dual SIM variant.

You also have a DND (Do Not Disturb) mode that can be automated depending on your timings. When the DND mode is activated, the only time you’ll get notifications alert is when there is a priority call, text, or message.

You will be able to set priorities before you set your DND mode so no need to worry about missing important appointments, calls from important contacts or reminders from critical apps.

On the plus side, not having these apps will save you some storage space.

Google drive will also come pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) but you won’t have access to document editors unless you download them.

They won’t cost you any money if that’s what’s on your mind.

The phone will also feature a customized Samsung web browser and it will have plenty of new features this time around like tabs, ability to save web pages for offline use and better privacy options.

But, if you’re used to synchronization of  data across multiple devices then you would probably be more satisfied with browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will also have a S Health app. It won’t’ have any advanced features such a heart rate monitor or blood oxygen level checker but it will be able to monitor your walking distance, your running distance, and cycling distance.

The app will allow you to input your water input and coffee intake for further statistics.

There is also a My Files application which functions as the default file explorer in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76). It has Google Drive integration and the application can compress files to zip format so they are easily shareable.

TouchWiz gallery also allows the user to share photos and other media through wireless printing, Android Beam, and Wi-Fi Direct.

You’ll also have at your disposal numerous editing tools. These tools should be enough for an average user who needs to crop and make a collage of pictures.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) ships with a 13MP camera which is similar to what Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 had when it launched a year ago.

The difference is that the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016  (J76) comes with a modern camera module that has a fast f/1.9 aperture. Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 has a f/2.2 aperture.

The camera in the newer model also supports  4:3 aspect ratio and is capable of taking photos at 4128 x 3096 resolution.

The 2016 model also offers a Pro mode but that feature, when compared to higher end smartphones, isn’t impressive at all.

The features you get are White balance, exposure compensation and ISO which are exactly the ones most other smartphones offer you. Although these features are more readily accessible in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

Other camera options include a Night mode, a Sound & shot mode along with Sports and HDR modes.

It is a lightweight as far as GPU and CPU chipset are concerned since it comes with a Snapdragon 617.

The RAM on the smartphone varies depending on its various models and different regions. But Moto G4 Plus does have a 16MP f/2.0 camera which is better than Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s 13MP camera and Moto G4 Plus has a dual LED flash which is an unexpected feature for the price.
