Why Did Samsung Release Galaxy J7 2016 (J76)

Samsung, along with other mobile industry giants like Apple and Microsoft, has finally shifted its focus towards emerging Asian  markets like that of India but that doesn’t mean that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016, aka  Samsung Galaxy J76 in some South Asian countries, won’t delight the European market as well .

Samsung Galaxy J series is the first step, the company has taken towards developing smartphone markets. The J series closely follows the schedule of other Samsung Galaxy series like the S series and the A series (which are of course geared towards the high-end consumers).

Of course, Samsung Galaxy S series is Samsung’s flagship series and the Galaxy A series isn’t really aimed towards emerging markets. The Samsung Galaxy A series is geared more towards upper-midrange of the company’s customer base.

samsung-galaxy-j7-2016 (J76)

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is an all rounder modern smartphone.

As a result, Samsung Galaxy S series and Samsung Galaxy A series has grabbed most of the headlines. That fact should not deter us from the reality that Samsung Galaxy J7 is perhaps one of the few smartphones out in the market that offers a reasonable mobile gaming experience (Pokemon Go anyone?) at a very affordable price.

Samsung Galaxy J series’ future depends on Samsung Galaxy J7’s success in big markets like that of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Not to mention people in countries such as Malaysia, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have shown considerable interest in Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

And the results have been favorable so far. The mobile consumers in these emerging markets tend to lean towards smartphones that have big screens and hold little regard for features such as UI (User Interface) or UX (User Experience).

Consequently, Samsung Galaxy J7  2016 (J76) has been a huge hit in these markets. With that said, the original Samsung Galaxy J7 that came out in September 2015 also became a bit of a sensation not only in Asia but Europe too.

Fast forward to 2016 and Samsung has put to work its favorite, and proven, formulae and has released the company’s latest iteration of Samsung Galaxy J7 smartphone.

To start off, the Samsung Galaxy J7 has a fresh metal finish, a totally updated operating system in the form of Android Marshmallow, a slightly improved battery life and a new chipset.

The chipset in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is just a tad bit more powerful than the one in Samsung Galaxy J7 2015.

Despite all these improvements and upgrades, Samsung has been able to keep the price of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) well within budget and the company should be commended for this effort.

Samsung J7 Initial Battery Charge

Samsung J7 2015 model had a 3000mAh battery while the 2016 model of the same phone has a slightly larger battery of 3300mAh.

Since these are modern batteries i.e Li-ion batteries, you don’t really need to put too much thought into how you charge them.

You can fast charge them from your default mobile charger that comes with the smartphone or you can also slow charge them through a usb connection to your desktop PC or your laptop.

Modern batteries also don’t require you to not charge them till 100 percent. This new feature allows you to charge your smartphone’s overnight while you sleep without a problem.

Though, it is considered a standard best practice that you keep your battery levels between 40 to 70 percent at all times in order to maximize your battery life.

If you’re thinking too much on which version to buy then put your mind at rest because the two chipsets don’t have much between them as both Snapdragon and Exynos chipset have eight Cortex-A53 processors.

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]

  1. 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi which is slightly on the lower side
  2. Absence of noise canceling mic
  3. No MHL

Interestingly enough, the first announcement related Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) stated that Samsung Galaxy J7 would come with a fullHD screen i.e a resolution of 1920×1080 but now it has been confirmed by various media sources (and reviews like this one) that the 1080p screen will only be available to consumers who are in China.

Other consumers will have to remain content with Samsung Galaxy J7’s 720p version of the smartphone device.

On the brighter side, it has been confirmed that the rest of the Samsung Galaxy J7’s specifications would be identical to the model in China.

Some may find it useful to know that there are actually very few differences between Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 and Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

From the perspective of consumers, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model offers a bit more in terms of better selfie quality and that always proves to be a big selling point when it comes to emerging markets.

One other reason why Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is superior to Samsung Galaxy J7 2015, is that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) comes with an improved 5MP front camera that allows you to take selfies without holding your phone in reverse. The front camera also has a fast f/1.9 aperture and a LED flash feature.

In short, Samsung has tried to reinvent the wheel by tweaking the Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 model to come up with Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model rather than upgrading the previous model.

It may be a small step forward for Samsung Galaxy J series but as far as Samsung is concerned, they have managed to come up with a smartphone that has a powerful set of hardware and comes at a reasonably low price.

The package overall is pretty simple, proven and most of all affordable for Samsung as well as the consumers.

What’s New in Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76)

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
One of the complaints a lot of consumers had with the original Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 model was that the phone used old design language.

With the new Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model, Samsung has finally addressed that problem by introducing aesthetically pleasing design patterns.

New Design Language

New Design Language

Before only Samsung Galaxy S series had these new design features but now, as Samsung looks to expand its business in emerging markets as well, Samsung has introduced these design features in lower-end models as well.

For example, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is much narrower than Samsung Galaxy J7 2015. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 is also shorter than its predecessor but is slightly thicker than Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 version.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 comes at 151.7 mm x 76 mm x 7.8 mm, which is quite an achievement from the company at such a low price. Samsung Galaxy J7 also supports more battery time than the 2015 model of Samsung Galaxy J7.

Some of you might think that the bigger battery in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 model comes at the cost of added weight but amazingly, that is not the case.

Samsung has used much more improved materials to build its Samsung Galaxy J7 2016, aka Samsung Galaxy J76,  model. The components of the smartphone are also much lighter thanks to the better technology that is available today. All that means is that even though Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a bigger battery than Samsung Galaxy J7 2015, it still is about a gram lighter than the 2015 model.

What About Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Hardware?

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
As was the case with Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 model, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is slightly bigger in size than Samsung Galaxy J7 2015. The new design is much sleeker and has a metal frame rather than a plastic one as was the case with the 2015 model.

samsung galaxy j7 2016 j76 plastic back cover

Back Cover is still made of plastic.

However, the back cover is still made of plastic and has caused some issues of wear and tear for some reviewers. But even with a plastic cover at the back, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 doesn’t look cheap because that same backside has been brushed with a metal finish pretty neatly.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a slight camera bump near the area where the camera is located but unless you really want your phone to be super plain, it isn’t that big of an issue.

In fact, it isn’t an issue at all since, as a whole, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) models’ components such as LED flash and speaker framework is very well constructed.

You won’t have any problems handling Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) because its edges are very smooth and the body is super flat.

The buttons on the sides have retained their traditional look and layout as the Power/Unlock button has been placed on the opposite side of volume control buttons.

Samsung Galaxy phones have been known to have very little in the way of bezels but Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) isn’t one of those smartphones from Samsung.

Mind you, it still isn’t much when compared to some of the other phones that are available in the market for this price so you don’t really need to worry about any bezel coming in your way while you do your work on your Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) smartphone.

At the bottom of the smartphone screen you have three buttons. On the left, you have the button that allows you to manage tasks and switch them.

In the middle is Samsung’s trademark home button. On the right, you have the old-school back button as you’d expect.

All buttons are capacitive in nature so you don’t have to worry about pushing on these too hard in order to make them function well.

Above the screen of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is the front camera, which is placed slightly to the left.

J7 2016 Vs J6 2015 Camera Result

J7 2016 Vs J6 2015 Camera Result

In the middle, you have an earpiece and proximity sensor. Strangely enough, the LED flash is placed on the left side of the screen rather than closer to the front camera.

Unfortunately, as was the case with Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 (J76) model, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model doesn’t come with an ambient light sensor.

If we move on from the front of the smartphone to its bottom side, we’ll be able to see a microUSB port, the primary mic and a 3.5mm headphone jack. All are pretty standard features these days, so no surprises there.

There is nothing much to talk about when it comes to the top side of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016.

If the back, plastic, cover of the phone is removed then it reveals a 3300 mAh battery along with microSIM and microSD card slots. The good news is that the battery is completely removable. So you don’t have to worry about throwing your phone away once its battery dies. You can get a new battery from any shop you want once it dies.

There is also a Near Field Communications (NFC) chip on the back panel.

Overall, the look and feel of Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) is pretty solid. The metal frame feels luxurious and the 5.5 inch isn’t that bothersome when held.

What About Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) Display?

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]

Harga-Samsung-Galaxy-J7-2016-(J76)-Hp-Android-LAyar-5.5-inchi

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a 5.5″ 720p screen.

As mentioned in the introduction, Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) comes with a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display which isn’t anything new if you compare it to Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 model.

A reminder though that the international version of the smartphone will only ship with a 720p screen. That isn’t particularly a bad thing since Samsung wants to keep Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) price well within the range of average customers who aren’t looking to spend big on a smartphone device.

The screen has a density of 267 ppi and comes with a RGB matrix.

Samsung has also included a mode feature for its Super AMOLED smartphones. There is a basic mode where the color display is most accurate.

The second mode is AMOLED cinema where colors are displayed in an oversaturated state. The third mode strikes a balance between the two previous modes and is known as AMOLED photo mode.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is built with a screen that is able to offer incredible contrast. The brightness levels of the screen are sufficient enough to handle 353 nits. And if you happen to turn on the Outdoor mode then, brightness levels are increased to 484 nits.

And that means you’ll be able to operate your Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 smartphone in broad daylight without confronting any problems.

Galaxy J7’s (J76) brightness is high enough with a sunlight contrast ratio of 3.756 but you can further boost it to 3.902 by turning on Outdoor mode.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Battery Life

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
The phone was expected to have a great battery life even before launch as news had spread that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016  (J76) would support a 3300 mAh Lithium-ion battery.

Needless to say, Samsung delivered on its promise as Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) scored handsomely on all battery tests.

J7 2016 J76 battery, metal frame and plastic back cover.

J7 2016 J76 battery, metal frame and plastic back cover.

Before we forget, prospective customers should know that the battery is fully removable so you don’t have to worry about taking your phone to Samsung in case the battery needs to be replaced.

Samsung cleverly utilized the phone’s 720p touchscreen and a 14 nm chipset manufacturing process, to make sure these components had a positive impact on battery life.

Trusted video playback battery tests have shown that Samsung Galaxy J7’s (J76) battery life is more than 18 hours . While using Wi-Fi along with an internet browser, the phone still gives an impressive 12 and a half hours of battery life.

Finally, on a 3G voice call, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) can last you more than a day.

Hugely popular mobile phone website gsmarena, states that the phone’s battery has an endurance rating of 101 hours.

That should be more than enough for most smartphone users.

If you compare these results with Samsung Galaxy J7 2015, then it is a 10-hour improvement. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) can boast upwards of 30 hours of additional battery life over smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Lenovo Vibe K4 Note.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Connectivity

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]

samsung-galaxy-j7-(J76)

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model comes in two versions. A single SIM version and a dual SIM version.

Samsung Galaxy J7 is available in two other versions. There is a single SIM version and a double SIM version. That means greater freedom when it comes to choosing carriers and data plans.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model doesn’t come with a Wi-Fi ac support as the Wi-Fi on the phone can only support 2.4 GHz band.

It does, however, come with a A-FPS, Bluetooth v.4.0, FM radio and NFC options.

As far as wired connectivity is concerned, the phone offers a microUSB and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 also supports USB on-the-go option.

This ensures that you’ll be able to use your smartphone as a USB device if you need to.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) User Interface

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
As expected from Samsung, the new Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. On top of that, as always, Samsung will have its TouchWiz user interface to give the phone a Samsung theme.

As a result, you’ll be able to enjoy the latest features such as Doze mode, Google Now on Tap, and native app manager support on your shiny new Samsung Galaxy J7 2016.

On a side note, you can rest assured that your home screen will look just like the TouchWiz home screen of any other Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

If we turn our attention to the notifications area then we can easily observe that it’s as busy as always.

The area starts with quick toggles on top, a scrollable line, a brightness slider and along with that, your default, S Finder and Quick connect buttons.

For some reason if you don’t like the default setup, you can always edit it from the options menu. The Edit option will allow you to change the look of your notifications area to your heart’s content.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will also come with theme options. If you don’t feel at home with the default TouchWiz look then you can customize the user interface by using themes.

The Theme store will have plenty of themes for you to try out, although, the phone itself might have a couple of pre-installed themes for you already.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s user interface is ultra rich. At the same time, it isn’t heavy on resources. Consequently, that will allow you to operate your Exynos 7870 chipset with octa-core CPU smartphone without any glitches or stuttering.

How Does Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Perform?

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
For clarity’s sake, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will ship with two versions. Version one will have a Exynos 7870 chipset while version two will be boosted by a Snapdragon 617.

In short, there won’t be much difference between the two variants of the phone.

Both versions will have an eight Cortex-A53 cores at 1.6 GHz. Well, most of the time in any case.

Because while the Exynos version has all cores running at 1.6GHz, Snapdragon has about 4 of them running at 1.6 Ghz and another one at 1 GHz.

You shouldn’t experience much drop in performance though.

As far as GPU is concerned, the Snapdragon variant will come with an Adreno 405 which is one of the most powerful smartphone GPU in the world, while Exynos will have a Mali-T830 MP2 which is no slouch either.

Both versions of Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will come with 2GB RAM.

Some prospective customers might like to go for the Exynos 7870 variant for the simple reason that this chipset is manufactured using a process that is 14nm FinFET.

That offers huge energy saving over other manufacturing processes such as the 28nm ones.

GeekBench that provides regular authoritative CPU performance ratings reported that Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) has a huge lead over its competition when it comes to multi-core processing performance.

But it falls behind the rest in single-core performance tests.

On the AnTuTu 6 compound benchmark, Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) ranked just below average. In all honesty, that was to be expected since Galaxy J7 (J76) runs on a low CPU clock speed and a relatively underpowered GPU.

Snapdragon 652, and even Snapdragon 617, were able to achieve higher rankings than Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

That’s not all. The performance on GPU benchmarks for Mali T830-MP2 wasn’t that better either. Mali only managed 9.5 fps on GFX 3.0 Manhattan onscreen test for 720p resolution and dropped performance even further to 4.9 fps on 1080p resolution.

Basemark X test ranked Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) even below Oppo F1 Plus (that smartphone has the newer Mali-T860MP2 so it is understandable). The only competitor that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) was able to beat on this test was Lenovo Vibe K4 Note that has a very old generation Mali GPU.

But tests aren’t the be-all and end-all, when it comes to performance. Despite scoring poorly on performance tests, Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) users have reported smooth experience on running applications and multitasking activities.

In short, if you’re not into graphic-intensive mobile games then Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is more than enough for all your needs.

You won’t have to worry about performance while you’re browsing the internet for work or entertainment purposes.

What About Apps,Telephone,Loudspeaker and Text?

You don’t have to worry about loudspeaker being loud enough with Samsung Galaxy J7 2016

Let’s discuss the features for which smartphones were initially invented (that is for texting, calling and browsing) before it all got out of control and people started to use their smartphones for the sole purpose of streaming YouTube videos.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) comes in two versions. One version is a single SIM smartphone while the other is a dual SIM smartphone. The SIM card manager allows you to pick and use your choice of SIM for functions such as voice, text and internet data in case of the dual SIM variant.

You also have a DND (Do Not Disturb) mode that can be automated depending on your timings. When the DND mode is activated, the only time you’ll get notifications alert is when there is a priority call, text, or message.

You will be able to set priorities before you set your DND mode so no need to worry about missing important appointments, calls from important contacts or reminders from critical apps.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a decent loudspeaker so you won’t have trouble finding your phone if it is ringing. The phone has a score of 54.5  dB on Voice and a 71.0 dB on Pink noise/Music. It also has a score of 68.9 dB on Ringing phone level.

You’ll be glad to know that Samsung has updated its keyboard for Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) and now it has a separate numbers row. There is also another row for word suggestions and you can access special characters through long-press on your normal keys. In short, Samsung keyboard is actually quite comfortable to use.

Just like SwiftKey keyboard, Samsung allows you to adjust the size of the keyboard to suit your needs. The only downside is that you can’t make the Space key wide enough.

Samsung keyboard also comes with a swipe input feature, voice dictation and Hot Keys. Hot keys are your predefined short sentences that you can input through long pressing a key instead of having to type the whole sentence again.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will also come with a Microsoft application package which will include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You’ll also get OneNote and Skype along with that. Before you get too excited, know that only Skype will come as a pre-installed app. You’ll have to install others through shortcuts to Galaxy Apps.

On the plus side, not having these apps will save you some storage space.

Google drive will also come pre-installed on Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) but you won’t have access to document editors unless you download them.

They won’t cost you any money if that’s what’s on your mind.

The phone will also feature a customized Samsung web browser and it will have plenty of new features this time around like tabs, ability to save web pages for offline use and better privacy options.

But, if you’re used to synchronization of  data across multiple devices then you would probably be more satisfied with browsers such as Firefox and Chrome.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will also have a S Health app. It won’t’ have any advanced features such a heart rate monitor or blood oxygen level checker but it will be able to monitor your walking distance, your running distance, and cycling distance.

The app will allow you to input your water input and coffee intake for further statistics.

There is also a My Files application which functions as the default file explorer in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76). It has Google Drive integration and the application can compress files to zip format so they are easily shareable.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will allow you to install applications from places such as Google Play store, Galaxy Apps and Galaxy Essentials.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Sound and Multimedia

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) will come packed with TouchWiz gallery. TouchWiz can order photos by the time they were taken or by a folder-based Album view. The gallery offers both choices.

TouchWiz gallery also allows the user to share photos and other media through wireless printing, Android Beam, and Wi-Fi Direct.

You’ll also have at your disposal numerous editing tools. These tools should be enough for an average user who needs to crop and make a collage of pictures.

However, there are also advanced editors available that can perform actions like image correction, drawing and photo effects. You’ll also be able to make GIFs from your photos.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) also has a FM radio facility and a Google Play Music app for all your audio needs such as audio books etc.

The user interface is rather simple and there are shortcuts available at convenient locations on Now Playing screen to help you navigate through the app without much stress.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) can also record radio broadcasts but that feature may not be available in every region.

The FM radio app won’t be able to apprise the user of any radio channel’s name because the phone doesn’t have RDS support.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) also features a video player that can operate from a pop-up windows. This is Samsung’s exclusive feature that dates back to the days of Samsung Galaxy S III. The video player will also offer subtitle support and advanced appearance options.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s (J76) video player can also play audio files (like audio books) and play those via Bluetooth if you have a Bluetooth enabled headset/speaker.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has a decent audio output and that has been confirmed by many popular review websites. The phone offers high volume with a clean output for clear hearing even when volume is set to high.

The phone will also present its users with the standard 3.5 mm headphones jack. You’ll be able to plug in your headphones but there have been reports of volume levels dropping when headphones are plugged in.

Review websites like gsm arena reported that there was considerable rise in stereo crosstalk when headphones were plugged in. Along with that, users also experienced some intermodulation distortion ( which is basically a source of interference that arises from the combination of two or more signals at different frequencies in some kind of nonlinear system).

On a whole, the audio performance from Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) was average but sufficient for the price range.

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]

Does Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 model support screen mirroring applications?

Samsung Galaxy J7 (J76) does not offer DLNA. There is no way to connect a Samsung Galaxy J7 2016  (J76) model to your TV. You can’t send any pictures or videos or stream your mobile game to a bigger screen.

In other words, there is no screen mirroring application for Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76). A lot of potential users have asked this question over internet forums and YouTube and the answer is plain and simple.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) simply doesn’t support screen mirroring. For screen mirroring you need a smartphone device that has a screen mirroring feature.

Not only that, you also need a TV or whatever big screen you want to use for screen mirroring, to have a screen mirroring feature as well.

Only then will you be able to use a screencast app to mirror screens.

As far as Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is concerned, your best bet is to use a Chromecast device and see where that takes you.

Here are the steps you need to take in order to do that,

To cast your smartphone screen from your Android device to your HD TV, you need to,

  1. Connect your Android device to the same Wifi network as your Chromecast.
  2. Open the “Google Cast” app Chromecast cast icon.
  3. Then in the top left corner, tap the navigation drawer More menu icon.
  4. Tap the “Cast Screen” button.
  5. Select your Chromecast.

If you want to stop casting your screen from the notification area,

  1. Tap the notification drop down menu on your Android device.
  2. Select Disconnect on the notification bar.

If you want to achieve the same result from the Google Cast app then,

  1. Reopen the Google Cast app Chromecast cast icon.
  2. Then, in the top left corner of the screen, tap the navigation drawer “More” menu icon.
  3. Tap the Cast screen button.
  4. Select the Disconnect button.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) Camera Specifications

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
The Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) ships with a 13MP camera which is similar to what Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 had when it launched a year ago.

The difference is that the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016  (J76) comes with a modern camera module that has a fast f/1.9 aperture. Samsung Galaxy J7 2015 has a f/2.2 aperture.

The camera in the newer model also supports  4:3 aspect ratio and is capable of taking photos at 4128 x 3096 resolution.

The 2016 model also offers a Pro mode but that feature, when compared to higher end smartphones, isn’t impressive at all.

The features you get are White balance, exposure compensation and ISO which are exactly the ones most other smartphones offer you. Although these features are more readily accessible in Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

Other camera options include a Night mode, a Sound & shot mode along with Sports and HDR modes.

You can also access the camera through quick launch. Simply press the Home button two times quickly.

Some users have called the camera results as pretty decent for a smartphone of this price. Photos taken from Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76)  have been described as detailed enough but there have been suggestions of increased noise amount and partially developed shadows.

While, the colors of the photos taken from the camera are pretty accurate, they sometimes tend slide towards the cold arrangement.

The High Dynamic Range image samples are pretty reasonable as the Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) model manages to preserve additional information in highlights and shadows. Most of all, the camera has been reported of not producing an unduly flat image which is also a positive sign.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) also puts a lot of emphasis on its front camera. The front camera is basically a 5MP camera with f/1.9 lens and a LED flash.

As was the case with the primary camera, the front camera also offers excellent colors and details which makes is an ideal choice for “selfie” pictures.

But because Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is a mid-range smartphone, the dynamic range on its front camera isn’t that great.

As far as videos are concerned, the smartphone is easily capable of recording videos at 1080p @ 30fps and can handle bit rates of 17Mbps along with 256Kbps, 48KHz audio.

The videos shot are pretty accurate in terms of its colors and details. Videos made from the 13 MP camera do have focusing issues but it more than makes up for it with its great contrast.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
Simply put, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is clearly the better choice here. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 costs significantly less and is considerably more powerful than Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76). Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a metal build and supports a full 1080p screen resolution compared to Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s 720p screen resolution.

Not only that, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 also comes with a fingerprint recognition sensor which can unlock your phone in a few milliseconds which gives it a huge advantage over Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76).

Not to mention that the PowerVR G6200 in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 MediaTek edition and the Adreno 510 GPU in Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, are in a different league to Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s GPU.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) vs Moto G4 Plus

[ Back to Top/Table of Contents ]
The Moto G4 Plus costs about the same as Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) but offers much more. It has a 5.5” IPS LCD screen that is covered with Gorilla Glass 3.

It is a lightweight as far as GPU and CPU chipset are concerned since it comes with a Snapdragon 617.

The RAM on the smartphone varies depending on its various models and different regions. But Moto G4 Plus does have a 16MP f/2.0 camera which is better than Samsung Galaxy J7 2016’s 13MP camera and Moto G4 Plus has a dual LED flash which is an unexpected feature for the price.

And Moto G4 Plus has the all important fingerprint sensor as well.

Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has proved to a huge hit in markets such as India, Pakistan, Kuwait, Malaysia, and Bangladesh

If you’re one of those people who just skip to the summary part instead of reading the rest of the post, then know that Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is a solid piece of hardware that provides you with a bit of everything.

  • It is certainly not the best smartphone for its price but the bump in RAM and a Exynos chipset manufactured from a 14nm process gives it the edge over its competitors in terms of power efficiency.
  • The two cameras on the smartphone are more than enough if you’re going to use them for selfies or family pictures.
  • It has decent build quality and fits very nicely in the user’s hands. The 5.5” 720p screen displays excellent colors and the text on the screen is always legible.
  • Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) has great battery life and a wide variety of preinstalled software packages.
  • The GPU won’t be enough to play high-end mobile games and the loudspeaker on the smartphone is pretty average.
  • Audio quality, however, is reasonably good.
  • The video quality at 1080p is exceptional since it preserves colors and contrast reasonably well.

But the biggest benefit of owning a Samsung Galaxy J7 2016 (J76) is that it has a Samsung tag on it. That means that you would get great after sales service and wouldn’t have to worry about warranty claims.

Apart from that, a removable battery along with a front camera and a 5.5” AMOLED screen should seal the deal for anyone looking for an affordable but modern smartphone.

While it may not be able to compete with its cousins from Galaxy A series and Galaxy S series but it can certainly hold its own when it comes to the mid-range smartphone market.
