Beats never ceases to please those who are looking for a flashy set of in-ear headphones, and they have done it once again with the Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless. It has a minimalistic design, has powerful bass, and has a set of universal controls for ease of use. Still, as with other sound/music listening devices from Beats, the price tag may not be for everyone.
The Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless Delivers Powerful Bass for a Small Package
As for the design of the Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless, it does not look anything less than flashy. It still has that iconic Beats design that would make its can-style siblings very proud. The Powerbeats2 Wireless is aimed for the fitness industry and wants to be your companion whenever you exercise.
Even though the Powerbeats2 Wireless Headphones are supposed to be in-ear music listening devices, it doesn’t exactly live up for that purpose. The unit is indeed lightweight, but it is clearly built for those who are keen on exercising. But isn’t that a good thing? Yes, but fitness buffs know and agree that headphones need to disappear when you put them on. In this case, the Powerbeats2 will still be painfully obvious for the world to see.
Still, even though Beats may seem that they really want to make a statement with the Powerbeats2 Wireless, it does a pretty good job of staying put. However, you may have to sacrifice comfort at times, and there are times you may even have to deal with lowered sound performance.
The units house the sound drivers, and the Bluetooth radio. Furthermore, the headphones have the battery built inside of them which are then covered by thick pieces of plastic which are approximately the size of modern day flash drives. Therefore, it is clear that these won’t just disappear into your ear when worn.
The plastics are bulbous enough that they extend from behind the earbuds. While quite large for the design of in-ear headphones, they do provide an extra grip for them to hang onto the ear for dear life even during intensive workouts.
But even though the design of the be dealt with easily, what really matters here is the sound performance of the Beats Powerbeats2 Wireless, and it delivers plenty. There is a powerful level of bass coming from the headphones which is ideal for fitness enthusiasts. However, the mids and highs are somewhat flat and the frequencies are noticeably thin and lacking in warmth. Still, these in-ear headphones deliver great high-end performance, and interested people who want to get a pair need to be ready to pay a premium price.
